An outlook that runs through the project

Sustainability at BAOWATT

Sustainability is part of BAOWATT's principles and runs through all our lines of work. We keep it in mind in how we share resources, plan processes, reuse materials and look for answers that fit each context better.

We know, though, that sustainability cannot be explained through small gestures or good intentions alone. We do not want to stop at intention: we want to identify real needs and turn them into useful, workable alternatives.

In practice

What we already do

Before talking about new projects, this is what we already do today.

01

Equipment that gets reused

The wooden stands, panels and structures in the Rent catalogue are set up and taken down event after event, season after season. They are not single-use: they are built to last, to be repaired and to be put up again.

Shared resources

One in every three days that a Rent van leaves the warehouse, it is for a Produ or Tour project. Sharing fleet and equipment between lines means fewer vehicles, fewer purchases and fewer empty journeys. It is a direct consequence of the cooperative structure.

03

Waste management at events

We rent out and set up recycling points, with signage adapted to each event, so that waste is sorted from day one and not at the end.

Fewer empty journeys

When a Tour run and a Produ get-in overlap in dates and territory, vehicle and route are shared. Coordination between lines saves journeys that would otherwise be made twice across Girona and the rest of Catalonia.

Our festival

Onírik, where we test it

Onírik is the festival the cooperative has been running since 2024, at the Jardins dels Alemanys in Girona. It is also where we try out what we can later apply on other projects.

  • Dry toilets With Culiflor, who supply us with dry toilets: they save a great deal of water, and the waste is stored and composted into fertiliser at a composting plant.
  • Solar power Panels and batteries, with Ecologig.
  • Urban format It makes more sustainable travel easier.
  • Local suppliers Ca la Frida (Tortellà), Licors de la Subirana (Santa Coloma de Farners) and SOMA (Cornellà del Terri).
  • A manageable scale For the area and for the city.
Onírik is our testing ground, and we do not propose anything we have not tried at home first.
